Victor Harbison To Blog For NY Times News is that Gage Park High School's Victor Harbison is going to blog for the NY Times, replacing Will Okun, who has left teaching for now.  Many of you know Victor, who is a NBCT, but those of you don't may recall his several appearances on this blog (here and here) and in Catalyst (here).  Congrats, Victor.  You'll do us proud, I'm sure.

Tue Oct 7, 2008 at 12:04 AMBy: George N. Schmidt Victor Harbison To Blog For NY Times This is very good news, especially given the fact that The New York Times has had a habit of reporting the news from Chicago's schools biased by corporate and City Hall spin (with an occasional silly puff piece on Paul Vallas). If The Times actually print material from a classroom teacher in a general high school, it will be a major improvement in their coverage, but I'll remain skeptical until we see what they actually put into print.

Additionally, let's hope that people figure out how to keep the pressure off Chicago's teacher blogger. This will be huge, with many potential pitfalls.

Meanwhile, congratulations to Victor.
