In January, the School Board approved hiring Matt Lyons as chief talent officer – he’d previously held that position in an interim role – with a salary of $190,000. Previously, Lyons was chief operating officer of the Chicago Public Education Fund. The Fund is conducting a search for his successor there.

The Board also approved Diego Ferney Giraldo as early childhood education officer. He previously served as principal of Inter-American Magnet School. Giraldo will replace Elizabeth Mascitti-Miller, who left the district last year, and will receive a salary of $150,000.

In addition, two interim principals obtained contracts at their schools: Sergio Ramirez at George Washington Elementary and Ursula Hoskins at Beidler Elementary.

Since December, 14 principals have been retained as contract principals. They are: Lisa Epstein at Lee Elementary; Kiltae Kim at Gunsaulus Scholastic Academy; Jason Nault at North-Grand High School; Anamaria Obre-Lugo at Hammond Elementary; John O’Connell at Sheridan Math and Science Academy; Barbara Oken at Farnsworth Elementary; Gladys Rivera at Lowell Elementary; Erin Roche at Prescott Elementary; Pamela Brunson-Allen at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academy of Social Justice; Susan Daly-Rodriguez at Shields Elementary; Carolyn Jones at Bass Elementary; Manda Lukic at Beard Elementary; Juan Ocon at Juarez Community Academy; and Gerardo Trujillo at Pasteur Elementary.
