Three Chicagoans are among the dozen U S Department of Education staffers who are developing guidelines for the forthcoming “Race to the Top” innovation grants, according to Michael Casserly, executive director of the Council of Great City Schools. They are communications strategist Peter Cunningham; Matt Yale, former vice president for public affairs at Ariel Capital Management; and Ann Whalen, a special assistant to Secretary Arne Duncan now and when he was CPS CEO.
